Can someone explain the scoring!?

Woah I guess I'm way out of touch on the scoring with fantasy basketball.. Nash scored 30 points, 8 assists, 9 rebounds and only came out with 6 points!?!? How does this work again? And also over a weeks time what is the average score for team matchups? Do they stay around 80 at a week end?

Some teams play more during a week than other teams, doesn't this give an unfair advantage to some teams week to week?

I think this is all I'm confused about...

It's a roto format...

This is the easiest way to explain it.

The categories we are scored on are FG%, FT%, 3 pointers, points, rebounds, assists, blocks, steals, turnovers, and there may be one more.

Every game (games usually last a week or so) your starters go up against the other teams starters.

The team with the best FG% at week's end is awarded a point. The best FT% is awarded a point, and etc....

So if you have 6 points in your matchup right now, that actually means you are ahead in 6 of the 9 categories at this point which is very good.

basically...this is how roto works...

lets say there are ten total teams in the league...
in each category...there are standings...
lets say u were the league leader in points...then u would be given 10 points for the points cat...
lets say u were last in assists...then u would be given 0 points for that cat...
and so on and so on per category...
then all ur cats are totalled together to get ur final points...
