An email answer from Neteller

NETELLER

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Dear Mrs. Linda XXXXXXX,

Due to recent legislation and related events, US members will no longer be able to transfer funds to or from any online gambling site effective January 17th, 2007.

All other NETELLER services remain available to US members. They can continue to hold funds safely in their NETELLER accounts until such time as they decide to move the funds. The changes in gambling merchant transfers do not affect the ability of US member to maintain funds in their NETELLER e-wallet accounts.

NETELLER protects all members’ funds (all deposited, in-transit and un-cleared funds) by holding the value in independent trust accounts. NETELLER is authorized and regulated by the Financial Services Authority in the UK.

NETELLER continues to allow US members to transfer funds to non-gambling merchants. Additionally, NETELLER offers a peer-to-peer transfer service that allows members to instantly send money to friends and family around the world.

US member NETELLER accounts will NOT be closed, your funds will continue to be held securely and you will always have full access to funds held by NETELLER.

Currently we are experiencing unprecedented volumes through our withdrawals department. Due to this volume there maybe delays of up to 4-6 weeks for an EFT withdrawal and 6-8 weeks for cheque withdrawal.

If you have any further questions, please visit NETELLER - Member News.

Should you have any questions or feel you have received this email in error, please contact NETELLER Security, available 24 hours a day. We appreciate your patience and cooperation.

Thank you for choosing NETELLER.

Best regards,
NETELLER

If a person works online and lives in the USA, can they still use neteller if all they are going to do is take their money out on their Neteller card? Or are all aspects of Neteller closed to USA customers?

skinski is on a distinguished road
Thumbs down

Just thought I'd let everyone in on this . DO NOT try player to player transfers and think you can have them put your money into the neteller with peer to peer transfers . After I got all this done , and last night putting the money on my neteller card ..I wake up today , go to town and my money is no longer on the card . I come back home and now they have declined the transfer over to my card . They've now charged me a total of 13.00 and I'm worse off now than when I started.....here is what they say now .

How can I withdraw funds from my NETELLER account?
At this time, our ability to provide US members with withdrawals is significantly reduced. As a top priority, we are working to resolve all withdrawal issues, but in the meantime we continue to maintain these funds in trust on your behalf. Please check this page regularly for more updates.

Why can’t I use my Gold NETELLER Card anymore?
The Gold NETELLER Card is not available as a withdrawal option at this time.
We are doing our best to restore our withdrawal options but don't know how long this will take. In the meantime your funds are safely maintained in trust accounts. We will communicate any updates as soon as possible.

Why can’t I get a Gold NETELLER Card anymore?
We are temporarily not issuing Gold NETELLER Cards. The Gold NETELLER Card is not available as a withdrawal option at this time.

Is my money safe in my NETELLER account?
Yes, your money is safe with NETELLER. All members can hold their funds safely in their NETELLER accounts until such time as they decide to move the funds. The changes in gambling merchant transfers do not affect the ability of US member to maintain funds in their NETELLER e-wallet accounts.
NETELLER protects all members’ funds (all deposited, in-transit and un-cleared funds) by holding the value in independent trust accounts. As the largest independent online money transfer business in the world, we maintain our head office in Europe and are a publicly quoted company on the AIM market of the London Stock Exchange. NETELLER UK Ltd is authorised and regulated by the Financial Services Authority.

Am I required to withdraw my money from NETELLER?
No, there is no requirement for US members to withdraw their funds from their e-wallet accounts. US members will still be able to use their NETELLER e-wallet accounts for safe online transactions to non-gambling merchants and secure peer-to-peer transfers.

Does this change affect non-US members?
Yes. NETELLER is currently unable to transact with USD bank accounts, regardless of the location of the member. Please contact us to learn more.

How can US members find out about changes to their NETELLER services?
NETELLER will continue to notify you of any pertinent changes to your service. All members will continue to have access to this FAQ site for answers to the most commonly asked questions, but members can also register to receive all NETELLER press releases, by signing up for our e-news alert service.

I am a US resident. Can I still become a NETELLER member?
No. We have temporarily suspended the ability for US residents to create a NETELLER e-wallet account.

So , they have changed they minds now and this is no longer true.....
Does this change affect withdrawals with NETELLER?
US members who currently have funds in their e-wallet account may keep their funds safe in their account or are free to make withdrawals at any time they choose with a NETELLER Card. US members are not required to withdraw their funds from their NETELLER account.

Apparently Neteller is holding all U.S. accounts funds until they see fit to release them. They will not put your funds in the banks registered with them, they will not issue a check for your money and you cannot transfer your money. The only thing I can think of now is to publicly sell your neteller account to someone overseas and take a small loss or hold your account and see if the smoke clears.
