Hi all I think the petition is great and I support your efforts WIll this link be on other sites or just this site.
As to bashing if you notice my first post I stated I had been visiting many forums and I reported what I saw if you want I can send you links to hundreds of posts that are simply bashing the usa and its laws.
Most of the bashing I have read at other forums centers around the fact a poster will make an untre statement of fact such as ITS not illegal for the gaming industry to take bets from usa players and then they procede to to bash.
I to believe opinions should be expressed on any and all events and situations but when we try to pass off bashing as an opinion when it is based on untrue assumptions and facts then we have a problem and opinions turn into bashing.
I hope to see your petition on many sites and I hope every ones lobbies there congressmen to regulate and legalize online gaming because at the present time online gambling is against the law in the United States.Sites are prohibited from taking bets from Americans and as long as these gambling sites continue to violate American laws and not lobby for regulation and legalizing online gaming they are hurting their on integrity as well as pushing the United States Government into enacting even stronger laws.

I visited the petition with intention of signing on but as I read the petition I saw two flaws it is not a sole petition to legalize online gaming in the united states.
The petition in fact is two petitions one is for people to sign the petition that disagrees with the port security act the other is to legalize online gaming in the United States.
Each petition should stand on its on I really do not think this petition will have any impact on our US congress for that simple reason and I did not sign.
For a petition to have any weight it must stand on its on values if someone will start a petition to legalize online gaming in the United States I will be happy to sign it but I will not sign a petition that is two in one.

hello
We would like to register our strong disagreement with and disapproval of the recently enacted bill regarding the prohibition and/or regulation of internet gambling. The bill was originally introduced in the House of Representatives by Representative Goodlatte and was attached to "must pass" legislation in the Senate by Senator Frist.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
This gambling bill was attached to a "must pass" bill but the complaint in the petition is only for the internet gambling issue. No one is trying to stop the Port Security part. No one at all.
If you dont sign, well you dont sign.
If you have a better idea for the petition, write it up and we will gladly take a look at it.

We strongly believe that the government should not attempt to prohibit online gambling by adults. We favor legalization, regulation and taxation of online gambling by the government of the United States.
I think this would be a much better petition direct and to the point without critizing the usa congress for the port act one can catch more flies with honey. There is a lot of degrading comments on the port act by signees thats not going to help get their attention.

Hello
Well, circulate your petition, get as many signatures as you can and send it in. Any and all help is appreciated when it comes to this issue.
Myself, I have no problem at all with the Port Security Bill. It is needed. I have been to the ports in New York and in California for pickups when my husband was a trucker. Anything could be shipped in in the huge containers that come in on the ships.
But, that this gambling bill was attached to that bill was a low-handed act by Senator Frist. It was done in the wee hours of the morning and no_one had time to read it all before the vote was taken.
I think that the Internet Gambling Bill should have been one in itself. And have stood alone to be voted on.
This is not bashing, it is my and others opinions. And, I think instead of critizing everyone, perhaps it would do well for you to work on the issues that concern you. And as I said, circulate your own petition.

I am not sure who originally started this petition at
Legalize Online Gambling Now Petition
but with over 13000 signatures it is starting to show a lot of promise to get the attention of the people who it is inteded for.
I cant see where is says anything wrong with what it states:
Quote:
To: All Members of the Congress and Senate
We would like to register our strong disagreement with and disapproval of the recently enacted bill regarding the prohibition and/or regulation of internet gambling. The bill was originally introduced in the House of Representatives by Representative Goodlatte and was attached to "must pass" legislation in the Senate by Senator Frist.
We strongly believe that the government should not attempt to prohibit online gambling by adults. We favor legalization, regulation and taxation of online gambling by the government of the United States.
Sincerely,
|
as a matter of fact, if you look at the signatures you will even see where many placed their own view on the subject right with the signature.
but if you believe yours would be better....good luck with that.

Thats exactly what I am talking about all the comments on the port act makes the petition look rather bad the port act becomes a moot point if we can get online gaming legalized there was no reason to put the part about the port act in there.
But any way I feel it is a fruitless point the congress will not give it any weight.
Maybe someone will start a petition on the one single point.
