Wood leaves start against Reds

Wood, who has been bothered by a sore shoulder since spring training, allowed three homers -- all solo shots -- before leaving the game after throwing just 66 pitches. The hurler got tagged with the loss after allowing three runs on four hits. He fanned three with one walk.
The righthander was placed on the DL in early May with a shoulder strain. He was activated on June 29. After giving up his first career homer to Ken Griffey Jr. in the third inning, pitching coach Larry Rothschild and the club's trainer went to the mound to meet with Wood.
He stayed in the contest and retired the next two batters, but the hurler did not come out for the fourth inning. He was replaced by Mike Remlinger, who allowed two runs in two frames.
Wood is 3-3 with a 4.67 ERA this season.
