Rummy variations.

How many variations are there to this one card game. We have listed a few like Gin Rummy and 500.

Are these all games that you can find rules for in a book or are some of them games that families have made up for their own enjoyment.

Gin rummy
500 Rum
Anarchy
Bing Rummy
Canasta
Conquian
Continental
Contract rummy
Dos Trios
Dummy rummy
Florida Rummy
Indian Rummy
International Rummy
Kalooki (Jamaican Rummy)
Khanhoo
Liverpool rummy
Mah Jongg
Penang Rummy (Si Rummy)
Phase 10
Progressive rummy
Robbers' rummy
Rumino
Rummikub
Rummy Omar
Shanghai rum
Statian Rummy
Ten pennies
Ten Step
Three thirteen
Tonk (aka Tunk)
Tong Its
Uno
Zigity
Zioncheck

That is a list that I found on Wikipedia. If you want to see how each is played stop over there and click each on the list.

Wikipedia.

Now I am sure there are many more that aren't on that list. Do you have one that you play?

Re: Rummy variations.

I love to play Gin Rummy as well as regular rummy. Though when I play regular rummy, we usally make bets on the game.

We dont bet money on the game though, we bet chores when we play. To all of us this makes the game much more intresting as well as saves someone from doing several chores for the week, LOL.

Thankfully this is one game that I have always seemed to have alot of luck playing, because I usally end up with very few chores to do after we have played, but on the other hand the kids seems to have alot more to do,LOL.

We all love the game and we always have alot of fun playing. I have suggested to several of my friends that they also try this in their own homes because it really is alot of fun to play and makes doing chores more intresting as well.

Re: Rummy variations.

I never really ever thought of Canasta or Uno as a variation of Rummy.

We used to play canasta all the time. After school I would usually go over to my friend's house to hang out and we would play canasta till it was time for dinner. Those were some good times. I tried to play it online on Yahoo the other day and I couldn't remember how to play LOL!

UNO, that is a evil game with it's draw 4's and draw 2's.......Our family played UNO with progressive rules. I would play a draw 2, then if the next person had one they could play it, and the person to the left of them either had to draw 4 or put down their draw 2 and so on. I had to draw like 10 cards at once one time!

Re: Rummy variations.

OUCH! Rival remind me never to play UNO with your family, LOL. That would be horrible to have to draw that many cards at one time.
Though it sure would make it more difficult to win the game.

I have always loved to play games like Rummy and UNO with my family, though we havent gotten together in years and done something like that. Heck we were all still proably kids when we did that,LOL.

Re: Rummy variations.

You said it - long and difficult to win, I don't think any of us ever really got to 500, everyone always had so many cards that we would eventually get bored and just quit hahaha

Re: Rummy variations.

I still bet that it would be alot of fun to play though. I will have to try and play UNO with my family like you do. Everyone here loves playing cards and UNO is one of their favorite card games to play.
It is always neat to learn new ways to play one game. It really adds some spice and difficulity to the game.

Re: Rummy variations.

We had some fun times playing UNO. There's just so many new variations on the game that it's just always a fun game to play.

We played Phase 10 the other night for the first time, I thought the game was never gonna end. We played for like 3 hours almost, there were 4 of us and I couldn't get off of phase 4!
The others kept going out before I could get the phase complete. That's a tough game to finish, we managed to get someone to get through all 10 phases.

Re: Rummy variations.

I have that Phase 10 game though it has never been opened. Sad thing is I have had that game for about 2 years now, ROFL.

We all tend to stick with games that we know for some reason. I am going to have to break out that game and really give it a try, sounds like a good way to spend a raininy evening at home.
