ongoing bingo scam investigation
President of the fire department for North Belle Vernon, Roger Nogy has been charged of bogus calling of bingo numbers. This was so a friend would be able to claim and split the winnings with him.
Nogy is charged with theft by deception which stems from a previous incident at the fire hall, violation of small games of chance act, and theft for unlawful taking or disposition.
According to workers at the bingo hall Nogy had been seen calling incorrect numbers, so that a friend of his would win the grand prize which was worth $1,500. Nogy apparently was acting quite suspicious during the drawings, he was calling the numbers alot faster than usual as well as sheilding the machine so that others standing close could not see. He was also not showing the numbers to those who were in attendence that evening.
Its said that Nogy had pulled all three balls at one time, quickly announced the numbers and then quickly placed the balls back into the machine.
Nogy was arraigned before Magisterial District Judge of West Newton, and was released on non monetary bond. Though at this time there has not been a set date for a preliminary hearing.
This case has been ongoing for some time now, though hopefully soon it will be heard before a judge and all will be cleared up.
