Joanna Franklin, president of the Institute on Problem Gambling, says treatment helps prevent problem gambling incidents, but prohibition of gambling does not work. Franklin says compulsive gambling victims will find a way to gamble regardless of laws restricting gaming options

When you take into consideration that only 3% of the population has gambling problems and that the number of problem gamblers stays constant, you have to wonder what the big deal is.
And, if this is part of OCD (obsessive compulsive disorder) this compulsion to gamble would only end up being replaced by another compulsion.
Since studies are proving that most gambling problems are caused by certain genes, it is definitely treatable and the 3% of compulsive gamblers should not dictate as to whether gambling is legal or illegal.
