Governor Ted Strickland of Ohio gave an executive order to the state lottery in May to start installing slot machines at state race tracks to generate revenue needed to fund the budget. But church groups and lobbyists paid by out-of-state gaming interests have filed a lawsuit to prevent the gambling expansion

As an Ohio resident, I have a problem with this idea of our churches and lobbyists being paid by out of state gaming interests to try to stop gambling in Ohio.
Residents of Ohio need to think about our state budget, and unemployment. By starting new casinos in our state, there would be employment opportunities for our residents, and the casinos would sure help out our state budget.
If the churches and lobbyists can be paid to try to stop the being built, to me that doesnt say much about them in as much as they arent thinking about what is good for the states economy. It seems they are only interested in what is good for them only.
Unemployment is high right now in our state, and are the churches and the lobbyists going to see that there are jobs made available for our unemployed? I think not. In fact, it is very hard right now for residents of our state that are unemployed to get financial help because of the condition of the states budget.
Yea, so its a dog eat dog world, and Ohio is surrounded by states that have casinos, well, now its our turn to try to improve our state budget, and to have a way to make more jobs available.
It is one thing for the churches to be against gambling, but, in my opinion, it is just as wrong to accept money to try to stop gambling as it would be if the churches backed it.
