Pinnacle Entertainment, who is based in Las Vegas and already operates L'Auberge du Lac in Lake Charles, had proposed to build "Sugarcane Bay", a $407 million dollar facility on neighboring land in Lake Charles.

Joel Simkins who is a Macquarie Securities gaming analyst thinks they should go forward as planned. He believes the Lake Charles market could become a $2 billion-a-year gaming destination.

The two resort complex would surround a Tom Fazio-designed golf course.

This would be one of the largest commercial casino facilities in Louisiana. The The L'Auberge/Sugarcane Bay complex would consist of 1,395 hotel rooms, 3,100 slot machines and 112 table games.

Here is some of what Simkins had to say about the complex...

"A larger, fully integrated resort with luxury hotel rooms, more meeting space, and other amenities could better attract Houstonians and other longer-range communities (such as Austin and San Antonio)," Simkins told investors.

"We are comfortable that Pinnacle should move ahead with this project as the core Houston feeder market is underserved," Simkins said.

Pinnacle Entertainment also owns property in Reno, Baton Rouge and Atlantic City for future development. They are in the works for a casino in St. Louis next spring with the "Sugarcane Bay" to follow.

Not only does this sound like it is going to be a great casino, but just think of the number of jobs that will become available to those all around the area. That is what I like the best.
Right now people need jobs and this could really help the state a great deal. Of course having a casino around is great as well for those times you just want to relax and have some fun.

Looks like Baltimore is another place that is going to get a nice boost in revenue thanks to the casino and of course a boost in reversing the number of people who are unemployeed.
