A new bill that authorizes land-based casinos
A new bill that authorizes land-based casinos in Indiana would let the owner of Gary's, two casino licenses give one up in lieu of paying a $50 million relocation fee.
The bill was filed by Sen. Ron Alting, R-Lafayette, will compete with a bill by Sen. Earline Rogers, D-Gary, which authorizes a land-based casino but doesn't bring up the issue of her hometown's other license.
Both bills have now been sent to the Senate's appropriations committee, chaired by Sen. Luke Kenley, R-Noblesville. Rogers has said Alting's is more likely to move in the Republican-controlled chamber.
