Terrorists Use Online Gambling to Launder Money

This is one of the reasons I use the OPU to find out which sites are the safest and most trustworthy to play.

According to the Daily Telegraph, terrorists have been using certain websites, including some online gambling sites, promote radical Islam, to make new recruits and to launder money.

Some Al-Qaeda, who are computer experts have created an "online University of Jihad" that is recruiting and training potential terrorists in Britain so they do not have to risk travelling to Pakistan.

A specialist in counter-terrorism with Jane's Strategic Advisory Services, Terry Prattar says that the internet has been used to raise funds for terrorists and to launder money, many times through gambling sites.

I have been unable to come up with a list of sites that are known to have been used by terrorists but I will keep researching for this information. This is pretty scary. Only trust the sites you see listed here at OPU!

I saw this also and i wish the DOJ would go after these types of problems instead of trying to stop usa citizens from gambling when and where they want.

I mean this is unlawful and disgusting, but yet our government thinks online gaming is worse? I also think that if this report is true, then all the casinos that are not involved should speak up and out against the casinos that are, make it known that not all casinos are involved and help the gaming community from being whipped lashed like this from rogue casinos. and if its not true, than a public apology to online casinos will be called for, lord knows gambling online has had enough bad press this past year, it does not need more.

I am curious as to how they use online casinos to launder money, and the casinos that are involved should be shut down.

I also think those casinos should be shut down if they are knowingly involved in the criminal activity. I do not know either how they go about doing it but they are pretty smart at what they do. They know all the ways of committing crimes.
