While offline casinos here in the USA (Las Vegas and Atlantic City specifcally) are feeling the crunch, it appears that at least two offline and online bookmakers from across the pond are thriving.
Sportingbet has announced a 23 percent rise in its net gaming revenues for the past twelve months to $253.02 million, while William Hill reported a 9 percent increase in third-quarter gross win.
On top of that, William Hill announced that they will acquire affiliates of Playtech Ltd and other assets and enters into online gaming licence agreement with Playtech Ltd., which sent WH shares skyrocketing 20%.
If you recall, Sportingbet's chairman Peter Dicks was arrested in New York back in 2006, in which Louisiana issued a warrant for his arrest simply because Sportingbet advertised their service over the Internet. In the end, New York refused to extradite Mr. Dicks and ultimately, Sportingbet settled with Louisiana for an undisclosed amount.
...why does this sound familiar?
But, before you go off to place a bet with Sportingbet, keep in mind that SBR has given them their second lowest rating of D+.
