Ohio Mayor Wants Slots

An Ohio mayor is proposing slot machines be allowed at the seven horse race tracks in the state to help save the race tracks financially.

He is pushing Ohio lawmakers to allow the slot machines without it having to be put on the ballot. Voters in Ohio have shot down gambling on the ballots in the past several years.

The current proposal would not have to be added to the ballot. It would not require the constitution to be changed. It only requires the Ohio General Assembly's approval.

Attorney and Commission member Tom Zaino said that the part of the state's constitution that covers lotteries could also cover the slot machines.

Re: Ohio Mayor Wants Slots

I live in Ohio, and this is the first I ever heard of this. I am going to keep my fingers crossed.

I love to play slots and I have to travel 2 hours to do it. And believe me, WV and PA are getting plenty of my money from the slots. I would love to see my home state receive it instead.

Re: Ohio Mayor Wants Slots

I can not believe that citizens of Ohio have voted against the idea of gambling. Do those who oppose it have any idea of what kind of revenue that gambling would bring to the state and to each county???

That alone should make them realize that allowing gambling in Ohio would be a good thing. There is no need for residents to travel to other states and practically give their money away at the casinos, when that money is needed in their home state.

I hope that slots will be allowed, and I too will be keeping my fingers crossed that this is allowed.
