Kids lose Baseball field

The local baseball/softball field is being sold off, because of a lawsuit which as been brought against the owner of the field.

Apparently a woman was watching her son play a baseball game, when she went to the concession stand for a drink.

She apparently didnt see a rut in the grass and she fell, spraining her ankle.
She drove herself to the hospital and was treated for the injury. After leaving the hospital she sought out a lawsuit against the field owner.

This forced the owner of the field to sell it to help cover the costs of the lawsuit.

This of course means that the kids who played and practiced on this field will now have to find another place to play their loved game.

This in my opinion is horrible news. Its the kids who are the ones who are really losing out on this. Just because someone cant watch where they are walking, the kids will pay the price.

This just goes to show how stupid people ans most lawsuits are. I think the Government should make changes so it is not so easy to sue someone. There are times when a law suit is called for, but 75% of all law suits are un called for.

Re: Kids lose Baseball field

I completely agree with you on that one ClassyTouch. Its horrible that the kids are going to lose the ball field that they have played on for many, many years because of something so stupied.

Granted the owner of the field should have kept better care of the field to make sure nothing like this happened, but also at the same time the woman who filed the law suit should have also known that it would be the kids who in the end would pay for it all.

I guess maybe if we all fell down and sued someone for it then maybe the goverment would finally step in to take action to prevent this type of stupiedity, though I dont ever see this happening.

All our goverment cares about is getting money, just like to many other people these days.

Here we go again when greed interferes with the innocent. I feel so sorry for the kids. It breaks my heart to read stories like this one. Makes you shake you head.

How much is she suing for? Does anyone know?

Re: Kids lose Baseball field

The only thing that I have heard is that she is sueing for several thousand dollars, for damages, hopsital bills and heaven knows what else she is attempting to toss in there.

It is all nothing more than greed, apparently she doesnt realize just how much her actions are hurting the children in the community or simply she just doesnt care about the kids.

As of right now, kids who play baseball or softball will have to make a 45 minute trip to the nearest field for practices and games, because of all this.

There are works underway to get another field built thanks to the local business, fire department, police departments and the citizens of the area. Though a field wont be finished this year proably because the area the field is being built in has a large building sitting on it which will of course need to be removed first, then construction on a new field can begin.

I have no doubt in my mind that once the new field is constructed that if this woman is seen in the area, she will be asked to leave, or there could possibly even be a fight. No one wants to see her near anything like this because she will proably get injured again and then again file a lawsuit.
