Poker now illegal in Russia.

Poker has gone from a game of sport to a gambling game in Russia. They now have ordered that all games be shut down.

In July the government made all gambling illegal and everthing was shut down.

The Russian Federation of Sport Poker has essentially had it accredidations removed.

The European Poker Tour had planned an August event in Russia as its first tournament in the country, but was forced at the last minute to relocate to the Ukraine.

Before the change in policy, Russian poker was booming, with players honed in online poker achieving high levels of success at the World Series of Poker and earning international respect for their play.

This is a real shame. There are special zones where gambling is still allowed but according to the article they are not appealing and are desolute. What are these poor people going to do now.

Yeah that is messed up for the Russians.

I hope this can be straitened out some day where they will be alowed to play again.

Darn governments keep messing up people's lives. They should stick to their politics and stay away from the people's games and fun time.
