Is poker a game of skill or a game of chance? That is the question that many lawmakers are now having to figure out and make decisions on. Poker often takes place in casinos and many times, very large pots are at stake and can be won with the turn of a hand. But, doesn't it take skill to play and have a chance to win the game in the first place? I believe so. I am not very knowlegable as far as poker goes and I know that people who do know how to play could beat me. So, doesn't that mean that it is a game of skill? It isn't like playing slots. Slots is a game of chance. It is the luck of the draw. There isn't much skill I can obtain to make me have better odds of winning.
Many people are pushing lawmakers to call poker a game of skill which would then eliminate it from the UIGEA. It would be allowed everywhere in the United States online. It would no longer be illegal in certain states.
Some judges have already deemed poker as a skill based game. Hopefully others will follow suit!
I believe it is a skill as well. That is a skill I just don't have. LOL!!! I truly do stink at poker. I am pretty good at other games but, poker just isn't my thing and that's for sure. LOL
