How do you become an MMA fighter?

I am curious as to how one becomes an MMA fighter. Who do you see? Where do you go?

I have a son who really wants to join the sport and I have no idea how to help him reach this goal.

I haven't seen any information on this anywhere. I even looked at some of the popular websites and didn't pick up any information there.

Does anyone know how those guys got into the sport? Is there a special process or something?

Let me know if any of you have any information that I can pass on to him. And yes I know it seems crazy for a mother to want to help her son into a sport where he could get hurt. I just want to see him fullfil his dreams,I'll just have to trust in his abilities and put alot of faith in god.

The MMA would have been my choice of places to join when I was younger. I use to be fast and quick-to-learn different moves.

I found something that might help your son hbradley, it's on the mmatraining.com site.
In the middle column there's a "MMA Gym Directory" with a state drop-down list.

I'm sure your son could find something in his area if he's serious about joining the MMA.
