Stick To What Ya Know

I can't believe this. My old man isn't a gambler. He really doesn't even like playing slots but he will when I want to visit the casinos.

I wanted to go last night and so we went. I started off playing slots with him right beside me and then he wanted to go check out other games and I stayed where I was.

When I finished I found him sitting at the blackjack tables playing!! This seriously shocked me because as I said he isn't much of a gambler. I didn't know what to do at first, I didn't even think he knew how to play blackjack.

He lost of course, but from the look on his face he was at least having a good time. He refused to tell me exactly how much he had lost but I know he used the ATM and got more money than he planned on playing.

I guess as long as he had a good time and all the bills were paid it is alright, but I still wonder how much he lost.

I do know this he did swear that he was going to stick to slot machines from now on. At least they are a game he knows and knows well.

Yeah, it is easy to lose a lot at the blackjack tables, unless your patient and know how to play.

I'm not an avid blackjack player, but whenever I get the chance to go to Las Vegas I will hit the blackjack tables at least once.

I'm also more of a slot machine player because my money always seems to last longer on slots.

I still don't know how much he lost but I am guessing it was a lot more than he planned on playing to begin with!!

Do you ever play blackjack when you visit local casinos or do you save that fun for Vegas only?

I have never been to Vegas but one of these days I hope that will change. Though I seriously don't know what I would do if I did get out there. There are so many things I wanna see and do that I wouldn't even know where to start.

Any how I hope that the next time you head out to Vegas and you take a seat at the blackjack tables that you win big time over the house and have something to come brag to all of us about!

Re: Stick To What Ya Know

Sorry I took so long to reply scoobygirl30.

For starters, my local casino is about a two-and-a-half hour drive from my house, so I don't go there much with the high gas prices, maybe once a year.

I'm a hands-on person, so I don't like playing at the electronic blackjack tables. Even if I get to move my chips over the sensors, it's still not the same as playing with actual cards.

My local casino was suppose to open up live card tables this year, so if I happen to go there anytime soon, yes I will visit the blackjack tables.

Las Vegas is about the only place where I play most of my blackjack games.
Online blackjack is nothing like the real thing, and the same goes for playing poker or in poker tournaments.

As for winning it big at blackjack and bragging about it, you have to play big to win big and I don't play big money blackjack. I like to play for fun.

Re: Stick To What Ya Know

Our local casino is 10.2 miles from my house so gas prices don't bother me at all and anyway a friend usually picks me up a time or two a week for a trip to the casino.

I stick to the slot machines just simply because I don't understand the blackjack game but a couple of weeks ago a few young fellows were playing at the live blackjack table and apparently doing pretty well for themselves as they were really whooping and hollering quite a bit.

I think the next time I go to the casino, I will at least go watch for a little while and see what all the excitement was about.
