Electronic Games
What is it with all the electronic games these days. I am seeing all the good, fun board games, card games and more all electronical now days!!
I have to say it is kinda fun playing games on the go at times, but geeze all you really see are kids glued to these things practically day and night!!
There was a time when peeps would get together with either friends or family or even a mix of the two and play board games, card games or what ever else they were in the mood for.
Hell when we were kids much like our parents, we created games to keep ourselves occupied and some of them required a lot of skill. That doesn't happen now days because if it isn't in the digital world it seems kids want no part of it!!

Re: Electronic Games
I agree with you. It seems like family time with board games are becoming a thing of the past.
You can by a hand held electronic version of almost every board game out there. It's nice in one way because they are great for the kids while in the car traveling but at home they need to be put up and family time make a comeback!

Re: Electronic Games
I so agree. I know of a couple who actually take their kids to their parents place 90% of the time because they don't wanna cook for the kids, help with homework or practically anything else.
Its really sad but there are a lot of people like that out in the world. I have always tried to get the games out when there are kids around. Of course some are to young still to play, but not for to long.
I love playing games with them when I can and it's something that to many people don't do.
Game night is a must really, it brings a family together and allows everyone to get caught up in the fun of a game but in each others lives at the same time.
Meals are good for doing this also, but that is also something else that doesn't seem to happen a whole lot these days either.

Re: Electronic Games
I understand the both of you when it comes to the electronic games topic.
Our niece got her first electronic game device and that's all she thinks about now.
She finished her mario bros. game after a little over a week of playing and has started playing another one of her games.
But, homework still comes first in our home and then games can be played if there's time.

Re: Electronic Games
Oh for sure, always homework first. I know that if my kids were still in school and had electronic devices to play on, I would have to confiscate them at bedtime or they would be up all night playing games.

You got that right, bartongrl1. Our niece knows better now, since she's had a couple things taken away from her in the past for staying up after we turn out the lights for bedtime (and she was disciplined).
But even we adults have electronic games to play with on these new-fangled devices they've come out with.
You know the devices I'm talking about; ipads, ipods, tablets and a lot of us use cell phones as well (not I).

Re: Electronic Games
Yes, I know what you mean. Seems no matter where you go theres a young person on some kind of device. And they are always texting on their phones.
When I am away from home, the last thing I want to do is be on any phone or any other device. The only reason I take my cell phone with me is in case the car breaks down or some other emergency. In that way, having a cell phone is really nice in case one breaks down where there isnt a phone close at hand.

Re: Electronic Games
We just bought our niece a new game for her Nintendo 3DS (had to look at the device to see what it was).
The game is a Mario sticker game. I guess you have to search different places in the game and fight off monsters and things to collect stickers.
Our niece is a sticker lover (I was going to say, freak, since she loves stickers so much, but decided against it).
Anything that has to do with stickers, she wants it.
I bet if they allowed stickers on cubbys or lockers at school, she would have her's covered in stickers.

Re: Electronic Games
My grandson has a Xbox 360 and will sit for hours and play the war games and racecar games.
The granddaughter has a tablet and plays on it quite a bit. They are simple, easy games for kids to play.
I always make her go outside for a couple hours after school so that she is not always in front of the TV or the tablet constantly.
