Don't understand this.

I really don't understand how this works. I did try to bet on a team once. They had a paper with squares on it with the names of teams and I paid my five dollars and picked a team.

I didn't win and that was ok but even that game was unfamilar to me. Can someone explain how this works?

It would be nice to have some idea of the system and how people choose the players that they use.

I would appreciate it and will be looking to the internet for some sort of explanation in the mean time.

I haven't played a football betting sheet in a long time. I don't even know if it's still called that, but I think that's what you're talking about hbradley.

I think it's set up like; one team is listed on top (the home team) and the other team is listed on the left side...
There are numbered squares, starting at 0 (zero) in the top left corner and go up to 24 or more; from left to right on the top and from top to bottom on the left.

You right your name in a square for the team you think will win and by that many points.

If your team wins the game by that many points, you win the pot!
I think there's a half-time bet you can make too, to win extra side money.

I think there's actually two sheets; one for each team, where the team you're rooting for is listed on the top.

Anyways, I haven't played these sheets in many many years, but I think that's how they work.

I think what your talking about is called a spot sheet or a spot board.

Basically if you have picked the square that goes with the current score (whether it be first quarter, half time, end of game.. whatever) then you win. Typically the winnings are smaller at the first quarter and get larger with each quarter or whatever and the biggest amount goes to the person who picked the final score.

I haven't played any for a very long time too.

Thank you Stacy123, that cleared some of it up for me. I haven't seen one of those cards in few years now.

I think the last time I saw a spot card for a football game was when I was making a delivery of boxes to some company.
A guy was walking around to his cohorts with a sheet of paper and I saw it for a split second as he asked the guy I was talking to, did he want to pick a spot.

I walked away to back my truck into a dock while they talked sports and spots.

Thanks guys and yes the spot cards are what I was betting on. We used to do those at the factory where I worked.

Fantasy sports is a whole different matter and something I just don't understand.

I guess its never to late to learn but I am not really that into sports. I used to be when my pap was alive but now no one else in the family watches so I gave up.

I remember this past football season when my wife talked about a football sheet going around where she works.

I kind of miss the days when I was able to bet on a couple spots.

Although, I don't remember winning anything in the past, it's still exciting. Thinking, my numbers could come up and I would win something.
