One long year.

This has been one long year. It is however slowly coming to an end. What will the New Year bring. I have no idea but I wait patiently and await it with a new hope in my heart.

This year started out ok. Things were going along as normal until about May of this year. You see that is when my son was diagnosed with cancer. He had discovered a lump in his throat. He was eighteen at the time.

We went to see our physician who made the decison to send him to a surgeon for consultation. The surgeon quickly determined that it should be reomoved. The did so and found that it had wrapped itself around his vocal nerve. It had also gone in behind his thorax. It was removed and there was concern that his voice would not return to normal.

After the removal it was sent away for testing. The first person to get it could not identify it so they sent it to the Mayo Clinic. They worked with others and identified it as a type of Burkitts Lymhona. This scared me to death as it can be very invasive.

We spent the next 5 months running back and forth to Ann Arbor Michigan to the Universatiy of Michigan Childrens Hospital for Cancer Treatments. It was hard to see my son sick and just as hard to see all ot the other little ones who were suffering from the many forms this disease has.

As of October of this year he has no visible cancer. Thank god for that. He will spend the rest of his life taking sythroid as the cancer took his thyroid gland. But this is a small price to pay.

This year my wish or resolution is to keep going no matter what life throws at me. I have made it this far and I can keep going. My husband took a job overseas to keep us financially secure. If he can make that kind of sacrifice for his family I know I can do anything.

Without my darling husband and my beautiful kids there is little to celebrate in life. I do all that I can to insure that this family will survive. My mom and dad are always there when I need emotional support as are my brothers and sisters. My point is that family is the only thing you come into this world with and it is all that you will leave with. Treasure each moment and teach family values. It is the most important thing you will ever do.

Re: One long year.

We often surprise ourselves with what we can endure. You and your family will continue to be in my prayers. I hope that the coming year gives you peace and joy. Hopefully this year will be a much better one for our economy and your husband will be with you sooner than you think.

Re: One long year.

As they say, God will never give you more than you can take. This seems to be true because you have trudged on no matter what life has thrown your way. God bless you and your family. I hope that you still find joy with the Holiday season and that things turn out much brighter for you in the year to come. Always remember, we are all family here and are here for you anytime you need.

Re: One long year.

With 10 days before Christmas REMEMBER:
>
> Jesus is Better than Santa
>
> Santa lives at the North Pole.
>
> JESUS is everywhere.
>
> Santa rides in a sleigh
>
> JESUS rides on the wind and walks on the water.
>
> Santa comes but once a year
>
> JESUS is an ever present help.
>
> Santa fills your stockings with goodies
>
> JESUS supplies all your needs.
>
> Santa comes down your chimney uninvited
>
> JESUS stands at your door and knocks..
>
> And then enters your heart.
>
> You have to stand in line to see Santa
>
> JESUS is as close as the mention of His name.
>
> Santa lets you sit on his lap
>
> JESUS lets you rest in His arms.
>
> Santa doesn't know your name, all he can say is
>
> "Hi little boy or girl, What's your name?"
>
> JESUS knew our name before we did.
>
> Not only does He know our name,
>
> He knows our address too.
>
> He knows our history and future and He
>
> even knows how many hairs are on our heads.
>
> Santa has a belly like a bowl full of jelly
>
> JESUS has a heart full of love.
>
> All Santa can offer is HO HO HO
>
> JESUS offers health, help and hope.
>
> Santa says "You better not cry"
>
> JESUS says "Cast all your cares on me
>
> for I care for you.
>
> Santa's little helpers make toys
>
> JESUS makes new life, mends wounded hearts,
>
> repairs broken homes and builds mansions.
>
> Santa may make you chuckle but
>
> JESUS gives you joy that is your strength.
>
> While Santa puts gifts under your tree
>
> JESUS became our gift and died on the tree.
>
> It's obvious there is really no comparison.
>
> We need to remember WHO Christmas is all about.
>
> We need to put Christ back in Christmas.
>
>
>
> Jesus is still the reason for the season.
>
>
>
> May the Lord Bless and Watch over you and
>
> your loved ones this Christmas 2008
>
> And may He prosper and bless the work
>
> of your hands in the New Year.
