Thanksgiving is Coming

Thanksgiving is coming soon... Just two weeks from now it will be Thanksgiving Day and most of all the people in the US will be gearing up for their Thanksgiving dinners.

(Now all I need is a Thanksgiving picture to pop up somewhere...)

It's time to call your close relatives to find out who will be bringing what to the turkey day get together. That's the one thing we have yet to do to get ready.

Bartongrl1, I don't see a turkey picture. Just a picture ad that a picture was hosted by Angelfire.

I've tried using the html image source url, but the same thing showed up: img src="http://www.angelfire.com/ga3/holiday5/images/turkwine.gif" [with this < at the beginning, and this > on the end]

If you copy and paste the following link into your browser address bar
http://www.angelfire.com/ga3/holiday...s/turkwine.gif
You will see a steaming turkey. Or you may see it by clicking on it (I saw it the first time).

Well, hecks sake. It used to be so easy to add these gifs without having to jump through hoops to see them.

Anyway, I tried to give you a picture. And I guess I will just wait until I see the turkey sitting on the table. lol

Yeah bartongrl1, the real turkey, and the dinner that surrounds it, is much better than a picture. All the picture would do is make me hun-gry for a turkey sandwich.

Which reminds me, I have half of a turkey sandwich left over from yesterday's dinner (we had hoagies).

I think a turkey sandwich made from a homemade turkey is way better than the sandwiches we can buy in the stores.

Re: Thanksgiving is Coming

I agree with you on all counts but especially about the turkey sandwiches after Thanksgiving dinner being so much better.

I love these holiday dinners but sure dont like what they do to my waist line. Each year I seem to gain more than the year before lol.

Re: Thanksgiving is Coming

So far (knock on wood) I've been able to loose the extra weight I've put on during the late-year holidays.

I guess my metabolism is still running strong, even at 50+ years. That, and drinking several cups of coffee each day.

Re: Thanksgiving is Coming

Lucky you. lol I dont do too bad in that department but then I dont go without eating breakfast on those days. Seems like if you skip breakfast and lunch in order to eat those big meals, you eat much more that you would have had you eaten prior to those big meals.

I like the holidays a lot but am always glad when they are over.

Re: Thanksgiving is Coming

Ah, you see, there in lies the problem. You don't skip breakfast and lunch to try to make room for the big holiday meals like Thanksgiving.

Just eat like you normally would and when the big meal comes around, you take a little bit of everything you like.
And then go back for seconds, but in small portions as well.

Don't have all that good food bunch up in your stomach; let it digest a bit first.

Enjoy the meal, take your time eating, and also enjoy the company of family and friends.

Sometimes I don't even realize I'm eating a big dinner, because I'm busy chatting with my family about one thing or the other.
But at the same time, I don't think about how much I can eat, just how much of the good food I can handle.

And you know what? There's always desert to save space for.

Re: Thanksgiving is Coming

You are so right. Im not skipping my regular meals to save room as many do. That way I wont overeat.

As to desert, bring it on. I love cherry cheesecake. Its my all time favorite but very fattening.
