Problem gambling team quit as law hits

Five of the six people responsible for problem gambling policy at SkyCity's Auckland casino have quit, just as the casino faces tough new requirements to stop problem gamblers.

The company's group manager for harm minimisation, Debbie Edwards, and the group manager for host responsibility, Shannon Hanrahan, both left on December 17, the day that a new host responsibility programme approved by the Gambling Commission came into force.

Re: Problem gambling team quit as law hits

Gambling can become an issue if you are not careful. If you are the sort of person who pays you bills and saves money and still go I think you are safe.

Its the people who gamble away their bill money and their savings in the hope that they will win that need help.

Boredom can be an issue for our seniors and many find gambling a nice distraction. Others have little to live on and spend it trying to win it all. I feel for them all.

I gamble but if I loose oh well and if I win great but I don't gamble on a regular basis and that is a good place to start. Limit your trips to the casino and budget so much for entertainment.
