Costa Rica Cracks Down on Casinos

Well it seems like the government in each country is trying to crack down on the gambling being done in each country but the revenue that comes form gambling can help the economy and the country's them selves

Quote:
The Costa Rica government, without any warning, has reportedly cut down casino operating hours from 24 to 8 (6 pm to 2 am). The Central American nation, which is home to more online gambling businesses than any other in the world, has always worried operators over the Government's perceived "wishy washy" position as it applies to gambling. In years past, the Costa Rican government has considered everything from taxation to outright bans. Whether recent actions have a trickle down effect for the online gambling sector remains to be seen.

Costa Rica Cracks Down on Casinos

This doesn't make any sense whatsoever to me. Casinos bring so much revenue to the area in which it's located and casinos also have to pay such high taxes (I don't believe this applies only to the USA) that to cut operating hours this drastically is like cutting off their noses despite their faces. It just sounds like a crazy move.

Re: Costa Rica Cracks Down on Casinos

Existing hotels with casinos, and stand-alone casinos, must regulate their hours to 8 hours a day from 6pm until 2am - a radical reduction from the current 24 hour operations many venues now offer. The issue of free alcohol is also to stop, and more stringent restrictions on access for minors introduced.
