Atlantic City's Tropicana sale

It took more than two years, nearly $12 million in fees to lawyers and others and a billionaire's bargain-basement bid, but the Tropicana Casino and Resort has been salvaged by its sale to Carl Icahn.

The $200 million deal that was done today marks the activist investor's return to Atlantic City, the nation's second-largest gambling market, and ends one of the most tortured casino sales in U.S. history.

Icahn bought the casino out of bankruptcy for 80 percent less than what it was expected to fetch before the recession hit.

He sure got a deal on that one. I have been to the Tropicana and it is really pretty. I am shocked that it went for that low.

But I am glad it was saved and will still be there for people to enjoy.

Re: Atlantic City's Tropicana sale

Wow,wish I had money and could have stumbled across that one,man what a deal.

I would love to purchase a casino and fix it up with all kind of extravagant decor, and put a great restaurant in it and make it big and famous.Employing only the best most famous chefs in it.

I bet he is able to pay it off within the first year or two, casino's have the potential to make quite a bit of money especially in the first year of being opened.

This was a great investment and I wish him all the luck in the world with it I just wish it was mine.
