Horsemen moving to stay ahead of Congress

There seem to be several vital issues that the breeders etc. need to take care of in the near future before Congress decides that it might want to do away with horse racing.

I believe you are right, that these horses need to be bred, not only to run fast and have enough stamina to finish the race, but also need to be bred for good health. It seems that their bones are weak and this is causing a lot of the problems. Horse racing is very exciting to watch, I would hate to see it banned, but the horses need to be considered also. The breeders need to go back a few steps and get some strength bred back into the bones.

I enjoy watching horseracing also. I do wonder though about some of the treatment they receive. To be honest, I hate the fact they are whipped so they will run faster. I don't think it is right and totally disagree with it. I know they say it is necessary to do but I think it is cruel.
I also wonder about the breeding in some cases. I wonder if they consider the health of the horses. To some it seems that all that matters is the horses' speed and nothing else. It worries me.
