Backgammon has Egyptian origin.

The ancient egytian game of senet resembled backgammon. It to was a game of skill. There have been discoveries of many similar games as far back as 3000bc.
In Mesopotamia there was a game called The Royal Game of Ur. In Rome there was a game called Game of Twelve Lines.
The fact that the ancients played games amazes me. The fact that our current games have their roots in ancient history amazes me even more.
Today, Nard is the Persian version of backgammon. I have no idea where we can find these games but wouldn't it be nice to play one of the original forms of backgammon.
