Tombola bingo gets online ad banned
The Advertising Standards Authority also known as the ASA, recently banned an online ad for Tombola Bingo.
According to the ASA the online ad for Tombola Bingo recieved ONE complaint by someone who didnt like the use of a fairground in the ad. Because of this the ASA took action and banned the ad, even though the goverment recieved an alert as to the content of the ad prior to it being released.
The ASA was created in the UK, and was done so to help make sure that online ad regulations were being followed for all online casinos. This was after some of the ads which were released people found to be racy. This is when the goverment stepped in and developed the ASA.
Since the creation of the ASA there have been many casinos which have been forced to pull their ads because some promoted problem gambling or the ads were too explicit for young viewers who may happen across the ads.
The ad which was banned by the ASA from the online Tombola Bingo, used a fairground in its advertisement, which one person found to be to appealing for young viewers, and this one simple complaint make the ASA step in and pull the ad.
When the ASA was created they came on strong, just to prove to everyone that they were serious about their work. Though now the ASA is being watched carefully because many believe that they are just being way to strict.
I can understand wanting to keep certain things from ads which would promote gambling problems as well as material which may isnt suitable for young viewers, but come on a fairground being used in an advertisement isnt the worst thing that could have been used. Heck this ad only recieved ONE complaint and it was pulled.
The ASA in my opinion is way to strict with its rules and regulations, and I hope that they are forced to lighten up.
