Video poker was first intoduced to casinos in the 1970's and is one of the most popular forms of gambling today. Video poker is a skill game with a minimum house edge. It holds the possibility of large wins and is ideal for those who like to play alone.

The rules for video poker are; you play 1 up to 5 coins, you get five cards, hold what you want and discard what you don't. The machine replaces the cars you discarded and you get paid what the value of your hand is.

You can play video poker with an advantage. There are many variations of the game. Therefore, you have to know for each game, the best pay tables, locations of them and how exactly to play them. You have to do your research.

I think you would have to have a lot of patience and determination to 'master' video poker. A lot of hard work could result in high payouts.

I agree with you, it would certainly take a lot of patience to master video poker. I think the only way to begin to master it, would be to take it one game at a time, and learn everything you could about just one, and then expand that knowledge into learning another one.

I do love playing video poker, I'm definitely no 'master' of any of the games though. I think I will have to start studying the games more, and read the advice in your post. With some knowledge and a little luck, perhaps I will win more often.

I am glad I found this post, I didnt know there was an actual strategy to playing video poker. I enjoy playing video poker but I just thought you won some and lost some. Thanks for making this post, now maybe I will be able to win a little more than I lose. LOL.

The wiz is truly great at all the game strategies.

You betcha there are a lot of strategies in video poker. Some of the softwares, like Microgaming, make strategy suggestions as you play. Not sure how good these are.

I havent played poker of any kind for many years now. I guess that is because as a kid, we played it so much just to have something to do and after a while it became so boring.

I usually play the slots, but need to try other games occassionally. And since video poker is offered at our local casino, and I usually by pass these games to get to the slots, I am going to give it a try.

I have read the strategies and will apply them to the game I play just to see how I do.

Who knows, I may like it as well and maybe better than slots.

But, at any rate, I will be sure to let you know how I did, and how I felt the strategies worked for me.
