Heartland Poker Tour
An unknown Las Vegas resident has won the top prize at the Heartland Poker Tour event held last week at the Red Rock Resort in Vegas. 300 people were in attendance for this, the first event of the year.
The man who is 42 year old Kimbo Ung. He just happened to be out to see a movie at the Red Rock when he saw a sign about the Heartland Poker Tour. Ung, who is from Cambodia has tried to make a living at playing poker for several years now. He has never considered himself a pro though.
He won $125,901 in the tour's main event.
Second place winner, Walter Wright also from Las Vegas won $62,950.
Ung said after his victory that he didn't want to embarass himself by being the first ever to cry at the final table.
The Heartland Poker Tour is kind of like the minors compared to the WSOP but this is how the major pros get their start!
